In 1979, Gregory Batesons’, In Mind and Nature, a Necessary Unity, he wrote “…the map is not the territory. And the name is not the thing named“. Leading his readers to question their use of words and meaning. Being a former geologist, maps of rock formations were a major interest of mine. In this series I create the “maps” in my mind. Knowing they are not real, but playful arrangements of color, shape, and texture that sometimes echo organic forms in nature.
